Black Adam (film soundtrack) by Grammy-winning composer Lorne Balfe is now available on WaterTower Music

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–WaterTower Music is thrilled to announce the soundtrack release today for New Line Cinema’s upcoming action adventure “Black Adam”, starring Dwayne Johnson. The first-ever feature to explore DC’s uncompromising anti-hero story is coming to the big screen under the direction of Jaume Collet-Serra (“Jungle Cruise”). The 43 tracks Black Adam (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) by acclaimed composer Lorne Balfe (“Mission Impossible: Fallout,” “The Lego Batman Movie,” “Black Widow”), Grammy Award winner and Emmy Award nominee, has just been released – ahead of the movie. “Black Adam” hits theaters and IMAX internationally from October 19, 2022 and in North America on October 21, 2022.

Earlier this month, before the release of this full soundtrack, WaterTower Music released two of Balfe’s themes from this film, the Black Adam Theme and The theme of the justice society. “It was exciting to get into the Black Adam theme, and I really wanted to capture his essence as an anti-hero in the DC comics world,” the composer explained. He went on to note that “This film is a reintroduction to the legacy of the Justice Society and I’m thrilled that audiences are rediscovering themselves!”

Balfe further explained his overall musical and philosophical approach to Black Adam. “My goal was to convey the emotion and darkness of the main characters to audiences, while simultaneously blending old themes and familiarities from the DC comics world and introducing a new class of superheroes. He further noted “One way to bring the feeling of an old world was to collaborate with traditional instruments from Latin America, India, Africa and the Middle East. A highlight for me was a drumming session I did where we enlisted several musicians playing various traditional instruments together to achieve that specific sound. Additionally, we had a large horn section on the score to give weight and power to the main character’s past, which I balanced with high tempo, more melodic sounds to give the audience a more familiar heroic feel. We also experimented a lot with the choir on this project which was able to bring a unique and classic sound that ties in well with the Black Adam story.

The Black Adam (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is now available to stream and purchase digitally, on CD and soon on vinyl via Mondo, who are excited to continue their ongoing DC soundtrack series with the first physical release of the 43-track Black Adam (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) on 3x 180 gram color vinyl.
