Jason Aldean says it’s ‘flattering’ when people cover his songs on Broadway in Nashville

Jason Aldean said he finds it “flattering” when people cover his songs in honky-tonk bars on Lower Broadway in downtown Nashville.

Aldean recently stopped The Bobby Bones Show on April 22 in support of his new album, Georgiathe second half of his double album, Macon, Georgia.

Bones asked Aldean if he did karaoke, to which the “Trouble With A Heartbreak” singer said yes. Aldean also shared that he doesn’t cover his own songs when singing karaoke because it’s “super cheesy.”

The Bobby Bones Show the host, Bones, then asked about other people covering Aldean songs while singing karaoke.

“Have you ever seen someone sing your songs and they don’t know you’re there, legit?” Bones asked.

“I mean, yeah,” Aldean said. “I’ve been to clubs before, you know, downtown Broadway, and there’s guys playing our songs and stuff. And I think that’s flattering, honestly,” he added. “I think that’s pretty cool.”

Aldean also shared that while he won’t take the stage when someone covers one of his songs, he will approach them after they perform.

“I’ll talk to them, maybe, when they come off stage, but I’m not going to jump on stage,” he explained.

“I can’t imagine if I was on stage singing your song,” Bones replied. “I would urinate right there. Right there,” he said, making Aldean laugh.

“At that point, I was like ‘oh no,'” the iHeartRadio DJ added.

Along with asking Aldean to share his reaction with others covering his songs, Bones asked the country singer about an expensive gift he recently received from another country artist.

Aldean, who wore a Rolex watch during the interview, explained that he received the expensive gift from Garth Brooks. Bones initially guessed that Luke Bryan was the person who gave Aldean the watch, to which Aldean remarked that Luke was “too cheap” to buy him that kind of gift.

Aldean also said a box was waiting for him in his dressing room when he recently played with Brooks. Inside was the Rolex watch.

Not so coincidentally, Aldean has a collaboration with Brantley Gilbert whose name verifies the brand, Rolex called “Rolex On A Redneck”.

Aldean released their latest album, Georgia, April 22. Aldean said the collection is a reflection of “who [he] is and where [he] grew up” on Instagram.

The father-of-four will also hit the road with a variety of summer tour dates, including appearances at CMA Fest, Barefoot Country Music Festival and Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Aldean will also embark on his Rock N’ Roll Cowboy Tour later this summer. The trek, which kicks off in Scranton, Pennsylvania on July 15, has support from Gabby Barrett, John Morgan and Dee Jay Silver.

The tour will visit 34 cities across the country this summer before wrapping October 29 at the iTHINK Financial Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, Florida.
