Old GUNS N’ ROSES and current SON OF APOLLO guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal just released a new acoustic EP of covers, “Barefoot 2”.
Thal says: “In 2008, I released the first ‘Barefoot’ Acoustic EP, a collection of Bumblefoot songs performed as stripped down acoustic versions. It’s a pleasure to release now ‘Barefoot 2’acoustic EP of covers.”

Last month, Thal released a new instrumental song titled “Planetary Lock” which he says was “inspired by [the] sense of urgency” during the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Thal joined GUNS N’ ROSES in 2006, replacing bucket head. He played with the band for eight years and performed on “Chinese Democracy”. He has also released nine full length solo albums over the past 23 years, most recently in 2015. “Little Brother Look”reissued on CD and vinyl in August 2017 by MEGADETH bass player David Ellefsonit is EMP label group.
Three years ago, Thal says he was distressed by his decision to leave GUNS N’ ROSESexplaining that he “wanted it to be something that [he] knew that would never happen.”
Thal never officially announced his departure from GN’Rbut a source confirmed to the Detroit music writer Gary Graf in 2015 that the guitarist had been absent since the end of the band’s second Las Vegas residency in 2014.
SON OF APOLLOwhich also includes the drummer Mike Portnoykeyboardist Derek Sherinian and bassist Billy Sheehan), released their second studio album, “MMXX” (pronounced: 20/20), in January via Music InsideOut/sony.
