Suite Jazz Series presents violinist Chelsey Green February 24

Jazz 91.9 WCLK pick-up is from Suite Food Lounge, located at 375 Luckie Street, home of the Suite Jazz series. This Thursday, February 24, Suite Jazz Series presents violinist Dr. Chelsey Green, performing with the Suite Jazz Series Band.

Described as “passionate, electrifying and innovative”, international artist Chelsey Green shatters stereotypes of traditional violin and viola playing. Originally from Houston, Texas, Dr. Chelsey Green is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, entrepreneur and educator who combines classical and contemporary to create unique music.

His ensemble, Chelsey Green and The Green Project, has released five studio projects, debuted on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz (Top 30), iTunes Jazz charts (Top 5) and has performed at shows, jazz festivals and concerts. educational workshops around the world; including shows across the United States, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Japan, Haiti and more.

Some performance highlights include the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards with Lizzo, Songs In The Key Of Life Tour (DC) with Stevie Wonder, Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival with jazz violinist Regina Carter, Essence Music Festival with MC Lyte, NPR Tiny Desk with Maimouna Youssef and Wu-Tang Clan, performances with Maysa, Jeff Bradshaw, Frank McComb and even a nationally broadcast Walmart commercial produced by BET alongside Kirk Franklin and Estelle.

Dr. Green maintains an active performance and recording schedule while teaching full-time as an associate professor at Berklee College of Music. Also committed to arts advocacy, Chelsey is a member of the Program Council of NewMusicUSA and is also a trustee of the National Board of The Recording Academy (The GRAMMYs).
