Taylor Swift’s Version of ‘Fearless’ Decoded: New Songs, Lyrics
What year are we already, Swifties? Taylor Swift opened the safe – and there’s no turning back.
The Grammy winner dropped Fearless (Taylor version), a re-recorded version of his 2008 album, on Friday, April 9, nearly two months after breaking the news.
“When I think back to Intrepid album and everything you’ve done with it, a completely involuntary smile spreads across my face. It was the musical era in which so many inside jokes were created between us, so many hugs exchanged and hands touched, so many unbreakable bonds were formed,” Swift wrote via Instagram in February. “So before I say anything else, let me say it’s been a real honor to be a teenager by your side. This process has been more fulfilling and moving than I could have ever imagined. and made me even more determined to re-record all my music. I hope you enjoy this first release as much as I enjoyed traveling back in time to recreate it.
Swift went into the studio to re-record her discography with Big Machine Records – her first six albums – after brown scooter bought the rights to his masters for over $300 million from the label’s owner Scott Borchetta.
Two days before the release of the entire album, which includes the bonus tracks and six new songs from the vault, Swift dropped “Mr. Perfectly Fine.”
“Me in 2020: Life is cold, I write songs based on fiction to avoid drama, I feel pretty grown up,” she tweeted, referring to her 2020s. Folklore and Always. “My 2008 music from the vault, in a goblin voice: ‘REELEEEEEEEASE MR PERFECTLY FIIIIIIINE. “”
In 2008, Swift was known for writing bits about her exes, including Joe Jonas, whom she dated for several months until their October 2008 split.
“[Joe] is no longer in my life, unfortunately. It’s ouch. … Someday I’ll find someone really, really great that’s right for me,” she said. Ellen Degeneres at the time. “When I find the right person for me… she will be wonderful. And when I’m that person, I won’t even be able to remember the boy who broke up with me on the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18.
More than a decade later, Swift told the host she regrets putting Jonas “on the breath” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Jonas, for his part, said it was “nice” to hear his apology.
At the time, however, he retaliated via a My space Statement: “For those who expressed concern about the ’27 Seconds’ phone call, I called to discuss their feelings with the other person. These sentiments were obviously not well received. I did not end the conversation. Someone else did. Phone calls can only last as long as the person on the other end of the line is willing to talk. Anytime you are in a relationship for any length of time, there will be issues.
The exes have since made amends, with Swift sparking speculation through her song ‘Invisible String’ which she sent to Jonas and his wife Sophie Turner a baby gift in July 2020. Swift, meanwhile, has been with her boyfriend Joe Alwyn since 2017.
